A highly symbolic hot air balloon kicked off the box office journey of 2.0, the sequel of Shankar’s Enthiran (2010). Emblazoned with life-sized images of key characters played by Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, the balloon was released at the Hollywood sign in California.
Produced by Lyca Productions, 2.0 is looking at a January 25, 2018, release, but has already started its promotions. The hot air balloon, which was reportedly made out of 1,500 yards of fabric, will float over London, Dubai, a few South-East Asian countries and Australia before wafting over India.
None of the movie’s stars was present for the launch, including Rajinikanth, who is also somewhere in the United States of America for treatment.
2.0 is being produced for an alleged Rs 450 crore. Creative head of Lyca Productions Raju Mahalingam, who was present at the California launch, has previously announced that the movie’s soundtrack, by AR Rahman, will take place in Dubai in October.
