On the busy streets of Tamil Nadu, don’t be surprised to see a man in an outfit with several pockets filled with hundreds of plant saplings. He might even be going around, making conversation with people, trying to convince them to adopt one of the saplings and nurture it.
This man, Selvakumar, is actually a district administration employee in Tiruppur who also finds the time to distribute plant saplings free to cost to people across the state. On weekends he organises plantation drives, not just in Tiruppur but in many other districts of Tamil Nadu.
Selvakumar also carries placards to create awareness about the need to plant more trees, which will help increase rainfall in the state. He happy to spend Rs 4000 every month from his own pocket to keep his passion alive.
