Thombare wins 20th title
Thombare and her Japanese partner, Kotomi Takahata were the top-seeds in the event draw and were facing the unseeded Norwegian-Croatian team of Ulrikke Eikeri and Tereza Mrdeza in the final.
Thombare and Takahata claimed the title after their opponents were forced to retire after just one game had been played.
This is Thombare’s 20th ITF doubles title and her first title for the 2017 season. Likewise, it is also the biggest title of the 22-year-old’s career in terms of prize money, with her having previously won five $25,000 ITF tournaments.
