Leander Paes and Scott Lipsky lost their second round match at the French Open to the Spanish team of Tommy Robredo and David Marrero on Friday. The Indo-American pairing, unseeded in the men’s doubles draw, were defeated 7-6(3), 6-2 by Robredo and Marrero, who are also unseeded at the tournament.

Both teams remained on serve in the opening set, before Robredo and Marrero converted early opportunities in the first set tie-break to win it 7-3 and go up by a set in the match. The Spaniards never looked back in the match after the opening set and swung the second set far more emphatically in their direction. Trying to stay in the match while down 1-5 in the second set, Paes and Lipsky retained their serve, but they couldn’t hold on into the match much longer as Robredo and Marrero served out the win.

The Spaniards got two breaks of serve in the match, it was quite a low conversion with Paes and Lipsky saving nine of the total 11 break points on their serve. However, while Robredo and Marrero faced only two break points on their serve, they saved them both, which gave them the upper-hand in the match.

Robredo and Marrero finished the match with 86 points, with Paes and Lipsky securing 69 points.
