An Indian Air Force Sukhoi 30 MK1 jet with two pilots went missing in Assam, near the Indo-China border. The plane took off at 9.30 am and last made radio contact at around 11.30 am.

The jet went missing around 60 km north of Tezpur, near Doulasang area of Arunachal Pradesh, NDTV reported. The area is around 172 km away from the Chinese border. The IAF has launched a search.

Seven of the Air Force’s 240 Sukhoi-30 jets have crashed until now, The Times of India reported. However, the jet is just delayed, as of now, and officials have not said it has crashed.

A Sukhoi 30 jet had crashed in Barmer, Rajasthan in March. Both pilots had been rescued. In July last year, an AN-32 defence aircraft with 29 people on board had gone missing after taking off from Port Blair. The aircraft had never been recovered.
