The names of 20 toppers of the Meghalaya Board of School Education’s Class 10 examination were leaked online on Monday night, a day before the announcement of results, reported Hindustan Times. The results were officially made public at 10 am on Tuesday as planned.
“It is an unfortunate thing, but the list which got leaked is the correct one,” MBoSE controller of examinations, TR Laloo, told the English daily. “Thankfully, the entire set of results did not get leaked.”
The matter was taken up with authorities, he said, adding that it did not appear to be an inside job, reported The Shillong Times. “It was only the PDF file of the merit list which was leaked. Others are yet to be out,” Laloo told the daily before the results were announced.
The board official blamed the National Informatics Centre, which handles the announcement of results online, for the technical glitch. Six other websites also publish the results online, but the merit list was not leaked from those website, Laloo said, according to Hindustan Times.
According to the leak, Duyu Asung of St George Secondary School in Nongmynsong and Lamphrang Lyngdoh of RK Mission Higher Secondary School in Cherrapunji, topped the examination.
The incident happened on the same day that the Haryana Education Board released an incorrect merit list of Class 10 results. However, the list was rectified later.
