India made excellent strides at the Asian Gymnastics Championships at Bangkok with Rakesh Patra, Pranati Nayak and Aruna Reddy progressing to the finals of their respective events on Friday.
Nayak has qualified for the beam and vault finals while Reddy moved to the final event in vault. Meanwhile, Patra qualified for the finals of the men’s ring apparatus event after finishing sixth in qualifications with a score of 14.
Nayak finished the qualifications after finishing with an impressive score of 13.275 and clinching fifth position which guaranteed her a in the finals of her discipline. The top-8 gymnasts in qualifications from each category progress to the finals.
Nayak will also have another final to contest in on Saturday after making the cut in the balance beam event despite finishing ninth in the qualification round.
In the team event, India women finished at sixth place with an overall score of 136.200 .
