It’s hard to believe you can actually see two people being shot dead, and three others injured, on CCTV.
But that’s just what the footage revealed as a group of robbers stormed a jewellery store in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday night.
According to The Hindustan Times, six unidentified men burst into a shop in the Holi Gate area of the city and opened fire. Their faces covered with helmets and scarves, the dacoits forced their way into a jewellery store owned by Mayank Agarwal and Vikas Agarwal in Koyala Wali Gali at about 8.20 PM.
As the video above reveals, the men in the store tried to ward off the attack, but were shot in the process. Store owner Vikas Agarwal and a customer, Megh Agarwal, were declared dead at the hospital, while another customer, Ashok Kumar, store owner Mayank Agarwal and a third victim were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The sum stolen has not yet been assessed, but is estimated to be about lakhs of rupees.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Department uploaded the CCTV footage on social media, seeking help in identifying the criminals.
Traders from the area came out on the streets on Tuesday to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation, and demanded quick arrest of the culprits. Members of the jewellers’ association, as well as office bearers and activists of the Bharat Udyog Vyapar Mandal, also participated in the protest.
