Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri beat compatriot Prajnesh Gunneswaran 6-4, 6-2 at the Karshi Challenger in Uzbekistan on Tuesday. Bhambri was at his sublime best as he outclassed Gunneswaran with ease. N Sriram Balaji also joined Bhambri in round two after he knocked out local wild card entrant Farrukh Dustov 6-3, 6-1.
However, it was curtains for Ramkumar Ramanathan who was beaten by Italy’s Cem Ilkel 4-6, 4-6. Ramanathan was in good form given that he recently made his first ever Challenger level final in Tallahassee. Ramkumar is ranked 216 while his opponent is placed 326 in the ATP singles ranking chart.
National hard court champion Vishnu Vardhan had bowed out of the tournament on Monday with a 3-6, 5-7 defeat against Ukraine’s Vladvyslav Manafov.
