Boxers Manoj Kumar and Satish Kumar Yadav qualified for the World Championship after beating their respective opponents in their box-offs at the Asia Championships in Tashkent on Sunday.
Kumar, competing in the 69 kg category, beat second-seeded Lie Wei of China 3-2 while Yadav, competing in the 91 kg + category, beat China’s Mu Haipeng 5-0.
Kumar and Yadav followed Kavinder Bisht who had also qualified for the World Championship earlier in the day after getting a walkover in the 52 kg category. The other Indian boxers who have qualified are Vikas Krishan (75kg) and Amit Phangal (49kg) and silver winners Shiva Thapa (60kg) and Sumit Sangwan (91kg).
The top six boxers from each weight category in the Asian event will qualify for the World Championships in Germany scheduled from August 25.
