South Africa pacer Wayne Parnell is undergoing tests on his heart after reportedly suffering chest tightness and an abnormally fast pulse rate during a domestic One-Day match in England, where he plays for the county side Kent, reported cricket.co.au.

Parnell experienced discomfort during a match between Kent and Somerset at Taunton, and left the field midway through the game, “Wayne left the field during Tuesday’s match at Taunton, as he was feeling unwell,” a Kent spokesperson told SuperSport. “He wanted to return to the field after examination by the club’s medical staff, but did not as a precaution. In consultation with doctors at Cricket South Africa, Wayne will receive further check-ups,” he added.

The left-armer has been picked by the Proteas for next month’s Champions Trophy in England, where his team will be playing India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in their group. Parnell has a history of heart-related problems, and had left the field midway through the game in 2013 while representing South Africa A. He was later detected with an irregular heartbeat.
