On Thursday, Fifa released their latest rankings in which India broke into the top-100 for the first time in 21 years. The last time India was in the top 100 was way back in February 1996 when they were ranked 94th in the World.
India has been steadily rising in the Fifa rankings owing to their wins against Cambodia and Myanmar. In April, they climbed up 31 spots to take the 101st position in the table. They beat Cambodia 3-2 in a friendly and also registered a 1-0 win against Myanmar away from home in 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers. India started the year at 135th in the table and have been on the ascendancy ever since.
India will next face Lebanon in an international friendly on June 7, ahead of the Asian Cup qualifying clash against Kyrgyzstan on June 13.
