It was the Rahul Tripathi show at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday as the big-hitting Pune opener hit a 52-ball 93 to drive his team’s chase of 155/8. Pune won by four wickets and it was understandably Tripathi who was the cynosure of all attention.

  • Rahul Tripathi has now scored the most runs in the Powerplay in this tournament. (1-6 overs). He’s above some big hitters in that list.
  • Tripathi also hit Rising Pune Supergiant’s fastest fifty off 23 balls, going past Ajinkya Rahane who had held the record till Wednesday.
  • The second highest score in the Pune innings after Tripathi’s 93 was Ben Stokes’s 14. The ratio between the top two scorers was 6.64, the sixth best in all 10 seasons of the IPL.
  • His score of 93 is also Pune’s third-highest individual score in their two seasons in the tournament.
  • Pune rocketed to 74/2 in the Powerplay, their highest score in the first six overs. It was also the fourth-highest score in this season of the IPL. They also put up a bunch of other notable firsts.   
  • Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sheldon Jackson is only the ninth player to be out hit-wicket in the history of the tournament.
