A woman allegedly racially abused an Indian family at Australia’s Luna Park in Sydney after they asked her if they could join her on a bench at the themed park, Mail Online reported on April 30. Utsav Patel recorded the incident, which occurred on April 23, where the woman shouted at him, his wife and child, and posted it on Twitter.
Patel said the woman started abusing them when they requested her to let his pregnant wife rest on the bench while she waited for them. The video shows the woman swear at the family. When asked why she reacted the way she had, the woman said, “Because I don’t like them. Go f*** yourself... get out of here man. Go, go, go.” She told them, “What is security going to do? I can say whatever I like”.
The incident follows reports of an alleged racist attack on an Indian man from Kerala by teenagers in Australia’s Hobart city in March. Prior to that, a priest was attacked inside a church in Melbourne. Tomy Kalathoor Matthew, a priest from Kerala, was stabbed while leading a mass in March. The Italian assailant, who was later arrested, is believed to have said Mathew could not conduct the mass because he must be a Hindu or Muslim because he was from India.
