Aizawl have reportedly filed an official complaint with the All India Football Federation over the body’s move to allegedly appoint referees from Bengal for their title-decider against Shillong Lajong.
The Northeast outfit are vying for their maiden title along with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan just three points behind them in the standings.
According to reports, Aizawl had asked the AIFF to assign referees from states other than Northeast and West Bengal. Soon after finding out about the appointment, the club wrote to AIFF and even threatened to pull out of the contest.
Fortunately, the club has since decided to go ahead with the game that will kick-off at 7pm on Sunday. The Mizoram-based club needs a point to clinch a historic title.
