Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bid to secure a place in the Indian Premier League play-offs faced a major setback after their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday was called off due to rain.
It began drizzling in the evening that eventually grew into a shower. The rain never let up ruling out even a five-overs a side mini game as the umpires called off the game around 11pm.
This is the fifth time in IPL history that a game involving RCB has been washed out. Both teams were awarded a point each.
RCB lie in sixth place with five points. While Sunrisers are in third with nine points. RCB have a mountain to climb now and need to win their remaining six games to secure a spot in the top-four and advance to the play-offs.
The home team had come into the game after being bundled out for a record low of 49 in their previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
