India’s Rohan Bopanna and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay reached the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters after stunning top seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers on Friday.
Bopanna and Cuevas rallied to beat their Finnish-Australian opponents 3-6, 6-3, 13-11, and will play France’s Hugo Nys and Poland’s Romain Arneodo on Saturday for a spot in the final.
The Bopanna-Cuevas pair downed fifth seeds Raven Klassen and Rajeev Ram in the quarter-final. Cuevas had a dream run in the singles draw too, upsetting third seed Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets. His run though, came to an end in the quarter-final, as he was defeated by France’s Lucas Pouille.
