Rohan Bopanna and Pablo Cuevas advanced to the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a win over Marcin Matkowski and Alexander Peya on Wednesday. Bopanna and Cuevas won 6-3, 6-7(7), 10-2 in an hour and 27 minutes.
Bopanna and Cuevas raced to a one set lead, before Matkowski and Peya regrouped in the second set. Neither team dropped serve in the second set, and in the ensuing tie-break with the score remaining tied at 7-all, it was the Polish-Austrian pair who broke the deadlock to win the set, and enforce the match tie-break.
The deciding tie-break was completely dominated by the Indo-Uruguayan team who dropped just two points to get the win. They will next face the fifth seeds Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram in the pre-quarter-finals. Klaasen and Ram had received a first round bye in the tournament draw.
