The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday appointed Bhupendra Yadav its Gujarat in-charge, with months to go for the Assembly elections in the state. Yadav is an MP in the Rajya Sabha. He will replace Dinesh Sharma, who has been appointed deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav is a lawyer who was active in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh before he joined the BJP in 2009. He was elected MP in 2012 from Rajasthan. He was part of the party’s election management team in Rajasthan for the 2013 Assembly elections, which the BJP won.
At the same time, the BJP’s in-charge for Himachal Pradesh, which will also hold Assembly elections later this year, was also shifted to the UP Cabinet. Shrikant Sharma will serve as power minister to Chief Minister Adityanath, PTI reported. However no party in-charge has been announced for the state yet.
