On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Daredevils in their own backyard to regain the top spot in the Indian Premier League table. KKR chased down 169 runs owing to the heroics of Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan. In the second match of the day, Sunriser Hyderabad won a thrilling game against Kings XI Punjab. Manan Vohra’s knock of 95 went in vain as Bhuvneshwar Kumar took a fifer to power the defending champions to a splendid win.
- Kolkata’s Umesh Yadav conceded 26 runs in his fourth over while Delhi were batting. The sequence was 0, 6, 4, 6, 6 and 4 with Rishabh Pant scoring all the runs. This was the most expensive over ever bowled by Yadav in the IPL. This was also the fourth time he has conceded more than 50 runs during an IPL match. He is joint-most for any bowler, with Ashok Dinda.
- Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up his 100th IPL wicket against Punjab. He achieved the feat in 82 matches, second lowest after Lasith Malinga who achieved it in 70 games. Kumar also became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul for Hyderabad in IPL history.
- Vohra’s 50-ball knock of 95 runs was his highest score in Twenty20 cricket. His previous highest was 77 against Jammu and Kashmir in 2015 in Delhi.
- Manish Pandey scored his second fifty in five matches. This also equals the record of the most he has ever scored in a full season – only twice before – in 2014 and 2016.
