Mumbai Indians handed reigning champions Sunrisers Hyderabad their first defeat of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, maintaining their record at the Wankhede Stadium. The four-wicket win was a complete team effort, combining the sharp bowling of Jasprit Bumrah (3/24) and Harbhajan Singh (2/23) and the crucial contributions of Parthiv Patel (39), Krunal Pandya (37), Nitish Rana (45). Sunrisers, even with the dual attack by Rashid Khan and Mustafizur Rahman, couldn’t defend their total of 158.

Have a look at some of the interesting numbers from the match.

  • This was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first loss in five matches, a streak stretching back to last year’s IPL
  • With this win, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma’s win percentage is 59.01 (36 wins in 61 matches), the second highest among captains who have lead in 10 or more IPL matches in IPL. Steve Smith has the highest win-percentage with 63.63%.
  • Mustafizur Rahman, one of last season’s standout seamers, conceded 19 in his first over on return, making it his most expensive in IPL. He had never gone for more than 15 in an over before and has the best economy rate among bowlers who have bowled more than 20 overs in IPL.
  • Jasprit Bumrah 3 for 24 are his second-best figures in IPL, after his 3 for 13 against Daredevils last year. This was also his first Man of the Match award in his 34th IPL game.
  • IPL newest entrant, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan continued his run of form with the ball, trapping Rohit Sharma leg before for his sixth wicket of the season. Interestingly, five out of the leg-spinner’s six dismissals have been either bowled or lbw.
  • This was the 16th time that Harbhajan Singh has bowled the first over in an IPL match. Only Yusuf Pathan has bowled more among spinners at 19.
  • Harbhajan got David Warner for the third time in IPL when he was caught behind on 49, the joint-highest by any bowler against the Australian.
