Pakistan cricket was left to fill in another giant hole in the middle order as senior batsman and former captain Younis Khan announced on Saturday that the upcoming West Indies series would be his last.
Earlier in the week, Pakistan Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq had also stated that he would call it a day at the end of the three-match Test series in the Caribbean,
“I will be retiring from international cricket after the West Indies series with my head held high,” Younis Khan said. “I think this is the right time as every sportsman has to take this decision in his career,” he added.
Khan is considered one of his country’s greatest ever Test batsmen, having been the cornerstone for many a Pakistan win in the 21st century. In 123 games, he is only 23 runs short of reaching the 10,000-run mark, having scored them at an impressive average of 53.06 with a highest score of 313.
The three-match Test series between the Windies and Pakistan will start on April 21. Jamaica, Barbados and Dominica are the venues.
