India’s top men’s squash player Saurav Ghosal went down fighting against third seed Omar Abdel Mequid of Egypt in the semi-finals of the Montreal Open on Friday. The Egyptian won 10-12, 12-10, 11-7, 17-15 against Ghosal, who was the top seed, in a thrilling four-set game.
It was a closely fought encounter with Ghosal missing crucial chances in the fourth game, which resulted in his elimination. Ghosal ended up losing 3-1 as the Mequid’s strong defensive game hurt the Indian. In the quarter-finals, Ghosal had beaten Mexico’s Arturo Salazar 11-8, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 15-13.
