Indian Grandmaster Harikrishna Pentala beat England’s Michael Adams in the Shenzhen Masters on Thursday. Pentala had lost his previous match against China’s Yangyi Yu. However, the world No 14 secured his second win in the elite Masters tournament. Incidentally, both his wins have come against Adams.
Harikrishna is now fourth in the points table after the seventh round. Three more rounds are left to be played. Playing white, Harikrishna took control of the game early on and outclassed Adams in the end. Harikrishna will now face top seed Anish Giri from the Netherlands on Saturday.
