India’s top men’s squash player Saurav Ghosal has entered the semi-finals of the Montreal Open, a PSA world tour event, in Montreal, PTI reported.
Ghosal overcame Arturo Salazar of Mexico 11-8, 9-11, 9-11, 11-4, 15-13 in the quarter-final match of the tournament, which the Indian is considering as a preparation for the Asian Championship here next month.
The Indian, who is the number one seed in the event, registered a comfortable first round win over qualifier Alfredo Avila 11-2, 11-7, 11-3.
Salazar, who had beaten an eighth seeded player, proved a tough customer. Showing greater firepower around the court, the Mexican had the Indian in knots. However, Ghosal showed a lot of resilience to shut out his rival.
Ghosal will take on third-seed Omar Adel Meguid of Egypt next.
