Claudio Ranieri has stated that his removal from the post of Leicester City manager came as a shock after having led the side to an unprecedented Premier League title just nine months earlier, the Guardian reported.

“Thinking of Leicester, the first thing that comes to mind is the sense of surprise, even more than bitterness,” said Ranieri was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I have been through a lot in my long career, but never anything like this. It was a shock, but in the end these things are part of football,” he added.

Ranieri revealed he would give more details about his exit from Leicester when he arrives in England, where he will begin his stint as a pundit on Sky Sports.

“Until that day I will not talk,” he said. “Because everything took place in England and it seems fitting to talk in England.”

The 65-year-old Italian was dismissed from his post in February and has kept a low profile since. He was sacked a day after Leicester’s first-leg defeat to Sevilla in the Champions League last 16. Eventually, the team went onto win the tie.
