The man who claimed to be the son of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa could well be put behind bars for trying to fool the courts. The Madras High Court on Monday ordered Krishnamoorthy’s arrest and said that he had forged documents to support his false claim.

The court order came after considering a report filed by the the Central Crime Branch, which said Krishnamoorthy was the son of one Vasanthamani. It also said the petitioner had used old stamps on the documents to make them look authentic.

On March 17, the court had reprimanded Krishnamoorthy and said the documents furnished by him were “fabricated”. “Even if the documents are placed before an LKG student, he will say that they are fabricated. You attached a photo available in the public domain,” the court had said. “I can send this man straightaway to jail. I will ask police officers to take him to jail now itself.” However, the bench asked the police commissioner to verify the documents.

Krishnamurthy had claimed that he was the son of Jayalalithaa and Telugu actor Shobhan Babu. He had said that he lived with his adoptive parents at Jayalalithaa’s friend’s house. He had also alleged that Jayalalithaa’s aide Sasikala had pushed her down the stairs when she wanted to introduce her son to the world, in September 2016. The AIADMK chief had been hospitalised in September last year, and never recovered from her illness.
