India ‘B’ registered their second consecutive win in the Deodhar Trophy after their bowlers triggered a middle-order collapse in the Tamil Nadu ranks, bowling them out for 284 while chasing a stiff 317-run target at Vizag on Sunday.
After electing to bat first, Manish Pandey (104 from 110) anchored his side’s innings with a classy ton. Shikhar Dhawan (50) had yet another good outing while Axar Patel’s breezy 43-ball 51 helped India ‘B’ get to 316/8.
Tamil Nadu were cruising to the target as opener Kaushik Gandhi (124) and N Jagadeesan (60) bludgeoned their way towards a 114-run second wicket stand.
There were handy contributions from Dinesh Karthik and skipper Vijay Shankar too. With the required run rate steadily creeping up, Tamil Nadu lost their way with Dhawal Kulkarni, Patel and co. making regular inroads. The Vijay Hazare trophy winners lost their last seven wickets for only 40 runs.
Brief score:
- India ‘B’ 316/8 in 50 overs (Manish Pandey 104, Axar Patel 51, Shikhar Dhawan 50; R Sai Kishore 4/60) beat Tamil Nadu 284 in 48.4 overs (Kaushik Gandhi 124, N Jagadeesan 64; Dhawal Kulkarni 3/45, Axar Patel 3/53) by 32 runs
