Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has officially become an Overseas Citizen of India.
The pacer, known most famously for bowling at over 150kmph, posted a picture of his OCI passport on Twitter on Friday.
Tait married Indian model Mashoom Singha in June 2014 after meeting her during the Indian Premier League, where he played for Rajasthan Royals in 2010. Tait, who played a key role in Australia’s triumph during the 2007 ODI World Cup triumph in the West Indies, has not played international cricket since January 2016 in a T20I against India.
Tait, technically can now even play for India in the future. The International Cricket Council’s rules clearly state that a player needs to wait for at least four years after playing his last international to represent another country. He can turn up in India colours in 2020, but by then he would have turned 38.
