The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday doubled the salaries of the senior men’s team. The Board’s Committee of Administrators, who met earlier in the day, decided to enhance retainer and match fee amounts in the players’ annual contracts.
Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja and Murali Vijay were promoted to Grade A in annual contracts and will join India skipper Virat Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni in the elite group.
Grade A players will be paid Rs 2 crores per annum, Grade B will be paid Rs 1 crore per annum and Grade C will be paid Rs 50 lakhs per annum, which is double the amounts paid in the earlier years.
The Match Fee enhancement for men cricketers will be effective from October 1 2016 onwards. Players will also receive Rs 15 lakh per Test, Rs 6 lakh per one-day international and Rs 3 lakh for a Twenty20 International.
Meanwhile, Sandhya Rajesh Sawant, wife of Late Rajesh Sawant, who passed away while on official assignment with the India under-19 team, was handed a cheque of Rs 15 lakhs, in recognition of her husband’s services to Indian Cricket.
