Tamil Nadu are well on course for a record fifth Vijay Hazare Trophy title after a convincing six-wicket win over Baroda in the first semi-final at Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium on Thursday, PTI reported.
Batting first, Baroda were bowled out for 219 after the middle-order collapsed soon after openers Kedar Devdhar (46) and Aditya Waghmode (45) had stitched together a 92-run stand. B Sai Kishore was the pick of the bowlers finishing with figures of 4/59, his best in List A games.
In reply, Tamil Nadu began on the back foot after losing both openers early. Keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik held the innings together with a patient 107-ball 77. He first shared a 60-run stand with Baba Aparajith (28), before stitching together an 88-run partnership with skipper Vijay Shankar (53*).
Karthik’s exit did not rattle the chase as Shankar took them home with 15 balls to spare.
