A Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Wednesday crashed in a village in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, injuring three people, PTI reported. The pilots managed to eject safely before the crash.
The fighter plane, which was on a routine training sortie, took off from Jodhpur and came down in Barmer following a technical snag, reported The Times of India. Several houses in the vicinity of the accident site were damaged and two motorcycles were destroyed as the jet crashed, while a buffalo was burnt alive.
The incident came on a day when a Chetak helicopter of the Indian Air Force crash landed on the outskirts of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning. The helicopter toppled when the pilots tried to land in an uneven field after developing a technical failure.
In September 2016, a MiG-21 aircraft of the IAF had crashed in Barmer.
