Former Brazil and Barcelona star Ronaldinho, announced on his Twitter page on Sunday that he will be touring Pakistan soon. The World Cup winner has been chosen as the captain of the touring team, who will face the hosts in a seven-a-side contest at Karachi, reported GeoTV on Tuesday.
“They haven’t named the team as yet, but it would be like ‘rest of world’ and the team will line up against a team comprised of Pakistan’s national team players,” the report quoted a source as saying.
The source also revealed to the publication that Ronaldinho will be accompanied by seven other household names for the event, “There are seven more footballers who will come to Pakistan along with Ronaldinho,” the source said. “Those who know football would be happy to see them in Pakistan. There are few former World Cuppers and all of them are players who have played Premier League as well,” the source added.
The event will see the launch of Leisure Leagues, an United Kingdom-based organisation which holds five-a-side, six-a-side and seven-a-side leagues in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and USA, in Pakistan, reported Tribune.
