Sri Lanka registered an emphatic 259-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test at Galle on Saturday. Captain Rangana Herath led Sri Lanka’s dominance with a haul of 6/59, his 29th five-wicket haul.

Bangladesh began the day on 67/0 with Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal at the crease. However, Sarkar was bowled by Asela Gunaratne on the second ball of the day and Bangladesh soon lost their top three batsmen with 83 on the board.

The Rangana Herath show took over at the Galle International Stadium thereafter as he started by bagging the prized wicket of Shakib Al Hasan for 8. He kept chipping in with regular wickets until he bowled Mustafizur Rahman for a duck and Bangladesh were bowled out for 197. He ended with figures of 6/59 and registered his 29th five-wicket haul. This was also Herath’s 10th five-wicket haul in the fourth innings. No other bowler has got more than seven.
