India’s PV Sindhu eased past Mette Poulsen of Denmark 21-10, 21-11 in the first round clash of the All England Badminton Open on Wednesday.
The Indian shuttler took the opening game with ease as she strolled to a 11-7 lead at the break in the first game. She was on top of her game since the beginning and covered the court with deft footwork to outplay her opponent. She took the game 21-10.
The Olympics silver-medallist continued in the same vein in the second, taking a decisive lead early on. Poulsen who was left to chase the game, could not put up a fight as Sindhu raced to a 11-4 at the change of ends. Sindhu broke little sweat as play resumed sealing the game 21-11 to complete the win in just 29 minutes.
Sindhu will face Dinar Dyah Ayustine of Indonesia in the next round.
