Two people were killed during jallikattu games in Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu on Sunday, PTI reported. One person was a participant, while another was a spectator, the report said. More than 50 people were also injured during the bull-taming games held in Thiruvappur. The games were being held as part of a temple festival.

Jallikattu had been made legal in January after the Tamil Nadu government in January passed a bill, revoking the Supreme Court’s ban on the sport. Since then, there have been several such games held in which people have died. Agitations for jallikattu had picked up steam in the state in January. Jallikattu is normally held around the harvest festival of Pongal, on January 14.
