An Army officer in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district was booked on Friday for allegedly blackmailing a girl after he molested her, PTI reported. Gulab Singh Parihar allegedly took photographs of the act, made a video out of them and then sent her messages from various mobile phones saying he would circulate them, police told the news agency.
The accused also d.emanded that she sent him Rs 5 lakh and more photographs of her, otherwise he would post naked photos of the child online. The officer was posted in the Kupawara district. A case has been registered based on a preliminary inquiry.
In 2016, clashes broke out in the state’s Handwara district after an Army officer was accused of molesting a minor girl. At least five people died in the protests that followed, and the girl claimed the police had asked her to keep the Army’s name out of her complaint.
