A deep-fried lizard in her french fries forced a woman in Kolkata to file an FIR against a McDonald’s outlet on Thursday. Priyanka Moitra also submitted a photograph of the unwanted add-on she and her daughter were served, with her complaint at the Phulbagan police station, ANI reported.
The incident took place on Tuesday when the duo went to the fast food joint near EM Bypass to celebrate the daughter’s birthday. After the four-year-old spotted the dead lizard, Moitra reported the matter to the branch manager. The pregnant woman said she felt sick at the sight of the reptile. “When I told the outlet manager, he showed a careless attitude and left with just a sorry,” she told The Times of India.
Her husband also expressed his shock at the negligence. “How can McDonald’s be so careless?” He told English daily that he had contacted both the Kolkata and Delhi office of McDonald’s, but neither showed much interest to pursue the matter. “There has been no apology. They just want us to send it to them for analysis,” he said.
While the area manager of McDonald’s Kolkata, Rohit Kumar, said he was not authorised to comment on the matter, a Delhi official said they would investigate the case thoroughly. “We have been in contact with the customer and are taking the situation seriously,” the official spokesperson of McDonald’s India (North and East divisions) told India Today.
