According to a report in The Observer, some 30% of India’s population (more than 300 million) does not have access to electricity. Last year, The Hindu reported that many parts of Chennai were facing unscheduled power cuts in the depths of summer.
Imagine, in this scenario, a fan that can run without electricity!
Dinesh GS, an electrical design engineer from Chennai, grew up with the sight of his grandfather suffering in the heat while working within the confines of a loom where power cuts were frequent. So he came up with a design for a fan that connects it to the loom. Every time the loom is active, the fan comes alive.
Simple, when you come to think of it, and effective.
