Mohamed Hussamuddin (56 kg) was the only Indian to enter the final of the Strandja Memorial tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Two of his compatriots had to settle for bronze medals after bowing out in the semi-final stage on Sunday, reported PTI.
Hussamuddin defeated local favourite Stefan Ivanov in the last-four stage to make it to the summit event, where he will lock horns with Ukrainian Mykola Butsenko.
In the 49 kg event, Amit Panghal received a bronze medal after being defeated by Bulgaria’s Tinko Banabakov in his semi-final bout. In the women’s draw, Meena Kumari Maisnam also landed a bronze medal after losing to local favourite Stanimira Petrova.
