A patient knock of 109 by Saurabh Singh helped India U-19 wrest back the advantage from England colts on day three of second Youth Test in Nagpur on Thursday.
The knock saw India declared on 388/9 in reply to England’s first innings total of 375. England’s fortunes were dented further as two late strikes saw them slump to 34/2 at stumps.
Earlier, resuming on 153/3, India were given a rude shock as England’s Henry Brookes dismissed overnight batsman Kanishk Seth for 12.
Saurabh held the innings together and added 65 runs to his overnight score. He was well supported by Daryl Ferrario (55). They added 97 for the fifth wicket. Saurabh later stitched together 74 runs with Siddharth Akre (54) to further frustrate the England bowlers.
