The Border Security Force on Tuesday said it had detected a tunnel that begins in Pakistan and extends along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, PTI reported. The paramilitary force’s spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Dharmendra Pareek, said they were able to foil an infiltration attempt after they found the tunnel.
Pareek said the approximately 20-meter tunnel, which was 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet in size, was discovered during an anti-tunneling exercise in Ramgarh sector. “The efforts of the BSF troops deployed in a multi-tiered counter infiltration grid resulted in neutralising [the] designs of terrorists working in connivance with Pakistan Rangers,” he told reporters.
The BSF’s Pakistani counterparts will be informed about the development, he said.
