Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Monday said the accused in the United States Mamidala Vamshi Reddy murder case has been arrested. On Twitter, Swaraj said the 27-year-old student from Warangal was murdered by a drug addict in California’s Milpitas city on February 10.
Swaraj said officials at the Indian consulate in San Francisco had briefed her about the case. Reports said Reddy was on his way home when he was shot dead. He had a part-time job. United States police officials had informed the victim’s family in Telangana on Sunday. The victim’s father, Sanjeeva Reddy, had appealed to the state government to help bring his body home.
Reddy had reportedly told his father that Indian students in America had been living in fear since Donald Trump had taken over as president, The Times of India reported.
