Minerva Punjab registered their first ever win of the I-League after beating Mumbai FC 2-1 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Saturday.
This was Mumbai’s fifth straight loss of the season so far.
Minerva took the lead through Boaringdao Bodo in the 57th minute. They doubled in the advantage ten minutes later as Anirudh Thapa found the back of the net.
Mumbai pulled one back through Karan Sawhney in the 77th minute. Minerva’s defence though prevented anymore drama in the game as the host pulled off a narrow win.
The win saw Minerva, who are making their debut in the top-flight this season, move up a position at the bottom of the table, while Mumbai are placed sixth.
