Minerva Punjab and Churchill Brothers got a share of the spoils in a gritty 0-0 draw in a bottom-of-the-table I-League match at Ludhiana on Wednesday.
It was the home side who had the first clear-cut chance of the game as forward Ivan Filatov was clear on goal, but was denied by Keenan Almeida’s last-ditch tackle. Towards the closing stages of the first half, Anthony Wolfe and Chesterpoul Lyngdoh combined to create a glorious opportunity for Churchill, but failed to take the lead.
Advantage swung back and forth in the second half. It was Punjab who looked lively in the first quarter after the break but during the 15 minutes, Churchill threatened to break the deadlock. Wolfe came close with 10 minutes left for full-time. Punjab brought up what was only their second point of the season and remain at the bottom of the table. Churchill lie at eighth.
