The Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee on Wednesday instructed BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to get written assurances from all state units hosting matches that cricket in no way will be affected.
The step was taken at a meeting of the three member committee of former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha, former Justices Ashok Bhan and RV Raveendran in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The report stated that the decision was taken as disqualified officials of BCCI were allegedly trying to devise strategy of disrupting matches and create problems for the new body to implement reforms.
Lalit Modi’s son eligible to run for RCA presidency, claims official
Rajasthan Cricket Association’s deputy vice-president Mahmood Abdi on Wednesday said that Lalit Modi’s son, Ruchir, was eligible to contest for the post of president, but it does not necessarily mean that he is set to take the position.
“Yes, he is heading a district association and is eligible to contest for the post of president but it doesn’t mean that he can suddenly take over the reins at RCA. A democratic process will be followed and the 33 voting members will decide on the new set of office-bearers,” Abdi told PTI.
In its meeting on Wednesday, the Lodha panel discussed the RCA issue as well as the stad-off in the Hyderabad Cricket Association, but decided to not intervene in both matter as the cases were still sub-judice.
Both bodies are waiting to hold elections, but have been told to implement a new constitution.
