The Indo-Czech duo of Sania Mirza Barbora Strycova entered the semi-finals of the Apia International in Sydney after defeating Madison Brengle and Anastasia Rodionova 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.
The duo were brilliant and were at their clinical best dismantling their opponents with ease. The first set was a cakewalk as Mirza-Strycova won it 6-3. The second set was also similar as the duo wrapped up the match in a little over an hour.
The duo will next face fourth seeds Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova. In the quarter-finals, the duo scrapped through with a 5-7, 6-1, 10-5 win over Andrea Hlavackova and Shuai Peng. Earlier in the month, Mirza had partnered with Bethanie Mattek-Sands to win the Brisbane International.
However, it was a quick end for Rohan Bopanna and Argentine partner Pablo Cuevas who suffered a first-round loss of 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 9-11 against Florian Mayer and Philipp Petzschner.
