Japanese comedian Daimaou Kosaka, also known as Pikotaro, is making it clear in no uncertain terms that he’s terribly fond of orange juice in his latest video. Naturally, the song makes no sense, just like its equally baffling viral predecessor, Pen Pineapple Apple Pen.
I like Orange juice doesn’t claim to be a deep song. It just sticks to celebrating Kosaka’s devotion to orange juice. He takes pains to dismiss other options such as tomato, carrot, mango and grape juices, even mentioning milk at one point.
He proclaims his single-minded devotion repeatedly. “Orange Juice!” Kosaka includes enthusiastic dance moves for extra effect. Pikotaro has maintained the same avatar as in the PPAP video, with just one difference. He has “OJ” painted on his palms, black and painfully clear for everyone to see.
Of course, the orange is the flavour of the political season in the US, at least.
