The Indian Olympic Association has annulled the appointment of Abhay Singh Chautala and Suresh Kalmadi as life presidents.
In fact, IOA president N Ramachandran clarified that no resolution was passed to appoint the scam-tainted duo as life presidents in the Annual General Meeting of the sports body in Chennai last month.
Sports Minister Vijay Goel had come down heavily on the IOA for its decision to award Chautala and Kalmadi honourary posts. The Ministry had temporarily suspended the Olympic body till the time it reversed its decision.
Following the uproar Kalmadi and Chautala had offered to decline the posts.
As a mark of protest against the appointment, International Hockey Federation president Narinder Batra had also resigned as the Olympic body’s associate vice-president.
