Two Army jawans were injured during an encounter with militants in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday morning. The exchange of fire broke out after security personnel cordoned off Shahgund village in Hajin area of the district after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The police said the encounter started when their teams were conducting search operations and the militants opened fired at them, reported The Indian Express. The encounter is still under way.
This comes only weeks after a top Lashkar-e-Taiba militant and an engineering student from the Valley were killed in two separate encounters.
